Wines included in this set:

2022 Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, Sancerre Rosé, Loire, France

100% Pinot Noir

If this rosé doesn’t knock your socks off, then you didn’t have any socks on to begin with. Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, a family farm that has been making wine for many generations since the 1600s. The current generation, Julie Guiard—Hippolyte’s granddaughter—is as much a humble farmer as any of her ancestors, foregoing vacation and travel to make sure everything is in exactly the right place in her vines and cellar. It's hard to imagine a wine as refreshing and enlivening as Reverdy’s Sancerre blanc, but the domaine's Sancerre rosé gives their classic white a serious run for its money. Julie uses direct-press Pinot Noir vinified in stainless steel to create this snappy, saline expression of Sancerre's stony soils. While its delicate aromas of tart cranberry and white cherry set it apart, it makes for an all-star rosé and just as iconic as her blanc.

2022 Sono Montenidoli, Canaiuolo Rosato, San Gimignano, Italy

100% Canaiolo

Do not bother putting socks on for this one either. Elisabetta Fagiuoli is a pivotal figure when talking about the last 50 years of Tuscan winemaking. In her youth she travelled a great deal and in 1965 she went to Tuscany and fell in love with the Montenidoli estate which she was able to purchase with the help of some money from her grandmother. It is a large estate of roughly 200 hectares, though just 24 hectares under vine, on a mountainside overlooking the picturesque town of San Gimignano with Chianti Classico in the distance. When she found the estate, both the vineyards and olive groves were in total disrepair. There were still some old vines in good health. She began working towards restoring the property to its former glory. Her debut 1971 vintage —marking this 2022 as her 51st vintage! The wine is a beauty! It opens with raspberries and violets, progressing to orange blossoms and citrus. On the palate it is very dry, with medium+ body and acidity. The finish is long, salted, and mineral.

2021 Jurtschitsch, Belle Naturelle Rosé, Austria

Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon

Jurtschitsch is the oldest and one of the most famous wineries in Austria's Kamptal region. Alwin and his wife Stefanie took over in 2006 and converted to organic agriculture, working to increase biodiversity, and downsized production so that they could be more hands on and increase quality. The vines now flourish amid fruit trees and wildflowers. We’re all for an increase in quality when it comes to wine. Stefanie oversees the winemaking, which relies on indigenous yeasts and minimal interventions in the cellar. For this ‘Belle Naturelle’ rosé, she blended directly pressed zweigelt and pinot noir with cabernet sauvignon macerated on its skins for color. It has vivid playful raspberry and cranberry fruit with that super clean and fresh. It's a very pure energetic tasting rosé that’s light-bodied. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

2022 Channing Daughters, Rosato di Merlot, North Fork, New York

Merlot

Channing Daughters creates wines from over two-dozen grape varieties on a 28-acre plot of land in Bridgehampton, on the South Fork of Long Island’s East End. The sculpture gardens featuring larger than life works by Walter Channing within over 100 acres of conserved land. Walter and his wife Molly began working with the Peconic Land Trust in the early 1990s on conservation initiatives that protected nearly 60 acres between 1993 and 2007. These acres, including vines, meadows, and woodland are located within an area that includes an additional 48 acres of agricultural reserve and open space protected by the Town of Southampton. Walter passed in 2015 and Molly, along with their daughters — Francesca, Isabella, Sylvia and Nina — continues to care for and nurture the land, including intense and careful culture of its vines and handpicking all grapes. Small and unique vineyard lots of grapes are fermented and bottled separately. All wine is gravity bottled. This rosé is a light shallot skin pale pink color, with notes of red plum, strawberries, red apple skin, red cherries, spice and minerals...persistent finish, and a wonderful zing. 198 cases made.

2022 Domaine Poli, Niellucciu, Ile de Beauté, Corsica

100% Niellucciu

The name Eric Poli is almost synonymous with Corsican wine. In addition to working as director at Domaine de Piana (his family’s 75-acre estate on Corsica’s East Coast), he also makes the wines for his wife’s family estate—Clos Teddi, and Clos Alivu. In 2005 Eric bought 7.4 acres of old-vine Niellucciu (Sangiovese) and Vermentino in the heart of Patrimonio (the oldest appellation on the mountainous island of Corsica) + 108 acres just outside his hometown of Linguizzetta, and established Domaine Poli. Eric farms his vines organically. This medium bodied rosé was made from 50 year-old vines and 100% estate grown Niellucciu from the Ile de Beauté IGP. The grapes were vinified in the traditional saignée method, in stainless steel, and with malolactic fermentation. We recently poured this wine on our Mediterranean wine sail and it was a CROWD PLEASER! It is so very delcius and precise with penetrating and pungent herbal scents of thyme and lavender with ripe white peach and pink grapefruit on a refreshing mineral-driven palate.

2022 Pomalo, Frankovka Rosé, Slavonija, Croatia

100% Frankovka (aka Blaufrankisch)

On the same latitude of Italy and similarly diverse and mountainous, Croatia has been produced wine for centuries. They were particularly devastated by phylloxera in the late 19th Century. As were many of their indigenous grape varieties. It is estimated that only about 130 of 250 indigenous Croatian wine grape varieties are grown today by about 1600 wine producers averaging ~4 acres each. We fell head over heels for this wine the moment we tasted it. The palate is fresh, vibrant, bright, and effortlessly pleasing with a nose that is bursting with juicy and ripe red berry fruits, particularly strawberries and raspberries, and floral aromas. It’s dry, light-bodied, with refreshing acidity.
