Wines included in this set:

2020 Adegas Moure, A Fuga Blanco, Ribeira Sacra, Spain

 55% Albariño, 45% Godello

This is a small family winery, in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra, in a magical place known as "O Cabo do Mundo." They aim to produce wines from native varieties, in small production, from single vineyards with the least possible intervention in the vineyard or the winery. The Moure family carries out all the work by hand on their hand-built granite-soiled terraces on extremely steep slopes along the Miño River. The wine is pale yellow, bright, and fresh with notes of ripe white peach, melon, lemon zest, white flowers, and white pepper, and very expressive of minerality. The flavors are gorgeous and well-integrated with the medium body and medium+ acidity with a few years of bottle age.

2018 La Milla, Albariño, Rias Baixas, Spain

100% Albariño Micro

La Milla is a cuvée made in collaboration with the winegrower and winemaker Angel Parada, a third generation of viticulturists. This 2018 is slightly golden yellow with green hues. It is so textured and layered from bottle aging and winemaking practices keeping the wine in contact with the yeast for an extended period. It is dry, medium-plus body with medium-plus acidity that is lifting and refreshing, accentuating the notes of ripe peach, pineapple, nectarine, and preserved lemon, drizzled with balsamic and herbs, and lip-smacking minerality. Delicious!

2020 4 Monos, GR 10 Blanco, Vinos de la Sierra de Gredos, Spain

60% Albillo, 25% Macabeo, 10% Chelva Blanca and Rosa, 5% Moscatel

4 Monos means “4 monkeys” and refers to four friends and wine lovers native to the region of Madrid that met while hiking in the Gredos mountains, part of the GR-10, named after one of the most famous walking trails of the Iberian Peninsula, linking Lisbon to Valencia.  Since founding their winery in 2009, they are bringing the potential of the Gredos terroir to the world’s attention. The wine is golden color and viscous in the glass with notes of ripe tropical and orchard fruits—guava, pineapple, mango, pear, and peach, punctuated by a delicious preserved and salted lemon. It’s full bodied with lots of beautiful texture on the palate and plenty of acidity to keep it all fresh and in balance with a salty mineral finish.

2020 Celler del Roure, Cullerot, Valencia, Spain

30% Pedro Ximénez, 30% Verdil, 40% Macabeo, Tortosina, Malvasía, Merseguera,, and others

Pablo Calatayud founded Celler del Roure in 1995 in an ancient country estate with an extensive subterranean cellar lined by dozens of intact 17th-century amphorae embedded into the earth, each with individual stone lids. He restored everything to a meticulous state. Here we have the indigenous grape variety, Verdil, which the winery has worked to re-establish after being on the edge of extinction. The Verdil and Macabeo are from 30-year-old vines, Pedro Ximenez from 70-year-old vines. The wine is aged in the amphorae for six months. It is a unique and delicious wine with a savory character and notes of nectarine, tangerine, melon, and biscuits, with a round and creamy texture and ample acidity.

2021 Huguet de Can Feixes, Blanc Selecció, Penedès, Spain

49% Parellada, 28% Maccabeu, 17% Chardonnay, 6% Malvasía de Sitges

A dry white wine from a family-owned winery, made mostly from indigenous grape varieties in the foothills of Alt Penedès, Spain—a one-hour drive from Barcelona. The healthiest organically grown grapes are hand-picked in the vineyard and further sorted in the bodega to ensure only the finest grapes are used. It is a beautiful lemon color with silver tones, aromas of fresh-squeezed lime, ripe green pear, and a refreshing minerality that all persist on the palate. The wine is dry, medium-bodied, and balanced in fruit, minerality, acidity, and body.

2021 A Telleira, Godello, Ribeiro, Spain

100% Godello

Grown from 40-year-old Godello vines planted on the slope of a hill in Ribeiro, a small region in the Northeast corner of Spain, from a single vine block growing on a slope above a classic clay tile factory (hence the name A Telliera). This fantastic Godello makes you feel like you're in Spain yourself with each sip, even if you are on the back porch. The wine is pale lemon with green tones throughout. The nose is medium intensity, giving a notes of juicy honeydew melons, hibiscus, and rocks. There’s a smokiness on the backend that piques your interest on every sip. The wine is bone-dry, medium-bodied, with medium-plus acidity and a layered texture from skin contact during fermentation. The finish is balanced and lingering with notes of honeydew and granite. This wine is a definite crowd pleaser and something we will surely have on our back porch all summer long. For this textured Spanish white stop by Micucci’s for some prosciutto to wrap around some ripe fresh melons segments and fire up the grill. Grilling the wrapped melons  concentrates the sugars and adds a smoky quality that matches this wine beautifully.
