Wine & Food Walks Are Back!

Join us Saturday before New Year’s Eve for an incredible Sparkling Wine & Food Walk. Sommelier Erica Archer will guide you on a viticultural tasting and walking tour of Portland’s vibrant West End restaurant scene as you explore some incredible examples of sparkling wines from around the World with delicious foods from four great establishments.

You're in for a fantastic wine education experience. You'll walk away knowing how regional influences and production methods impact sparkling wine styles and quality, gain confidence in evaluating, selecting, serving, and pairing wines, and describe what you smell and taste. Plan on learning a lot about wine and having a delicious time doing it.

• Taste and learn about four quality-made sparkling wines from around the World. We’ll delve into a different wine at each of the four establishments we visit.

• Enjoy delicious paired bites at each of the four restaurants we visit.

• Discover what makes each sparkling wine region unique in the styles of wine they produce.

• Gain confidence in evaluating, selecting, and pairing wines and describing what you smell and taste.

• Walk away knowing a lot about sparkling wine and how regional influences impact wine styles and quality.

• Discuss the major sparkling wines of the World and trending styles worthy of your attention.

• Learn what to expect from specific terms on a wine label when selecting your next bottle.

• Learn the basics of tasting or take your wine knowledge to the next level.

Your Sommelier
Archer is a true oenophile, having obtained high levels of certification in her field. In 2010, she was awarded the Wine Spirit and Education Trust Level Three Advanced Certification in Wines and Spirits (with merit), became a Sommelier in the American Court of Master Sommeliers, and received her Certified Wine Professional award from the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California. Erica is the principal of Wine Wise, a wine education and events service. She is skilled at creating truly creative and memorable wine experiences that take guests beyond a typical tasting with her intimate understanding of what makes each wine unique. And she’ll do it with her trademark down-to-earth style.

Where do we meet?
We'll email attendees the Wednesday before the event to announce the starting location and all the establishments we'll visit. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before our start time.
