2020 Bodega Garzon, Albariño Reserva, Uruguay + Fried Shrimp Empanadas from Quiero Cafe

 
 

We love pairing our wine club wines with local restaurants’ takeout as suggestions for our members to pursue. Such as the 2020 Bodega Garzón, Albariño from Uruguay with the delicious Fried Shrimp Empanadas with a side of pineapple salsa at Quiero Latin American Café with locations in Portland and Saco.

These crispy, doughy pockets of friend shrimp go so well with this seaside-grown fresh, aromatic, and ripe-fruit-forward wine with notes of peach, pineapple, melon, lime, and lemon curd with medium-plus acidity and body, a combined finish of salty minerality, tropical fruit, and round creaminess that linger on the palate. These vines grow meticulously cared for in Southern Uruguay a few miles from the Atlantic. You can taste it in the wine!
